I have noticed a dramatic spike in new account creations the last couple weeks and closer examination leads me to believe these are automated and a possible prelude to a massive spam attack against this board.

So, I've deleted every account created since Nov 1st that has not posted a single message.

If you created a real account that was deleted, sorry. Create another account, and post a message, at least to introduce yourself.

I will be automating a process that will nuke any account that hasn't posted a message within 1 or 2 days after creation.

I've also ramped up the complexity of the new user captcha to discourage automated signups.

May I suggest adding a captcha segment to the registration form? It would save a lot of hassle from these bot-messages that we get in droves.

Good idea, Wolfie.  And as I seem to be the only mod that frequents the site, anymore, and one of the most regular participants of the site, if my "mod-powers" could be upgraded, I could do a lot more to clean-up the site.  There are so many of these types of accounts, along with members that haven't logged-in for eons.

Radagast, lmk if you require assistance in this area.
