Leora: 'Space and the Woods' is my favorite of theirs.

It's nu-rave...but not as we know it.

Speaking of which, I'm listening to 'Magick' by Klaxons.

Mmmm.. I definitely wouldn't classify them as nu-rave. In all honestly, I wouldn't classify them as anything. Maybe "Animal Collective on more dope and with a shorter attention span". Maaaaaybe.
And of course with all the bands around yakking that there isn't nu-rave in the first place, and Klaxons were joking and the critics yakking that nu-rave (that was never there) is dead, it's getting sorta hard to use the word anyway.
I missed their live in Moscow recently. Though it only adds to being sour about missing Dolphin, Leningrad and Devotchka at the same event.

And talking of events and Klaxons, they're coming for a performance in October. At a ceremony. At an Alternative TV ceremony.
To make this more clear: there's Russian alternative, and it's nothing vast like I usually think of foreign alternative. It's not 'all the other cool stuff'. Here, all alternative is just a bad version of metal. And they give awards to all these horrible local bands at this TV's ceremony. Two years ago they brought KORN as headliner. Last year it was Slipknot's guitarist (must have run out of money for the whole band). This year it's Klaxons.
And I'm like "HUH?!"

I'm listening to "Submission" by Ash Cheesy

I saw Klaxons at a gig I went to with my dad, and it was in a place that used to be a ballroom, for which the wooden floor had been sprung. Needless to say, the music starts, people start jumping, and you can feel the ground bounce with the crowd. Quite a good atmosphere, but people got a bit carried away and it wasn't that good, to me.

I think the media does tend to brand a band's style sooner than it's heard the actual music, but it's so difficult to know these days you just have to wing it, I suppose.

By that logic I'm listening to the classic jazz of Lacuna Coil Wink

The Shins - New Slang.

Reception-friendly, but cool. (Pixies next, I believe)

The Amelie soundtrack.

I hadn't heard of it before, but now I have. It's spectacular.
