Has anyone seen or is going to see the musical version of Lord of the Rings? After hearing a slew of negative reviews, I was somewhat skeptical about whether the show was worth seeing. However, I did manage to watch it last summer. The stage production was actually quite amazing, better than what I had expected. I thought that special effects were slightly overused (but good), but aside from that, the acting, music, choreography, and overall staging were phenomenal and conveyed Tolkien's story very well.

That would be something fun to see. I didn't even know there was a LOTR musical.

http://http://www.lotr.com

It was playing in Toronto for... an year or so? Then it closed early in September 2006 and now it's somewhere in England, I forgot where.

Same here. It was last year, I think. They did The Hobbit at the community theatre but I never got to see it. Some of my friends were in it, though, but they never said much about it.

I would just like to be able to go to London some day. But that is out of the question for me.

Since I live in the U.S., going to London in the near future isn't very likely either. But Toronto was several hours' drive from where I live; that's the only reason I was able to get there. It also took a lot of work to find cheap tickets.

Yes, I realized... and most of the people who would like to see it don't live very close either. Now, if they could travel to large cities internationally, that would be cool.

Well, 8 or 9 hours isn't a few, I suppose, but we still got there in one day. It's worth driving a distance to see... but perhaps not flying across various countries.

Last year I saw the musical play Lord Of The Rings in Toronto before it closed. I thought it was good.

I liked the score more than I usually do when I hear music for the first time.

Has anyone else here seen the play?
