Maybe that was before my time.  But it is not a bad idea.  If something like this were to work, I think the best thing to do would be to pick a sort of centralized location.  Not sure where this would be though.  For us North Americans, having the meeting on this continent would be great, but for our European friends, this would be a killer in terms of distance and paying for that hefty plane ticket.  It would be the same the other way around.  Any ideas would be great.  Maybe there is some little island in the middle of the Atlantic that we can meet on?   lol

That's pretty much the main concern. There's the option of compromising, of course: one gathering on each side.... more convenient for all of us but not quite a good deal, I say.

As for those huge social networking sites, well, it's not the best option out there. A lot of us don't have existing accounts. But at the moment it looks like the internet is a good subsitute for the short term at least.

The only reason that I have a facebook account is because my husband had to join for work and ex girlfriends crawled out of the woodwork to contact him.   Tongue

Entirely out of curiosity - have you MET any METizens in real life?

I once had a sock that I posted under. Does that count?

Honestly though, I wouldn't mind meeting a couple of the oldbies over beer sometime...

Well, it's pretty sad when the only recent picture you can find of yourself is from Halloween, but this is what I look like.  Actually aside from the pointy ears and crown that's pretty much what I look like all the time.

I'm in the middle ...  Tongue

And no, I wasn't sweaty - my older daughter and I put lots of glitter on our faces...

Well, since no one else has anything to share, I've had the pleasure of meeting 2 fellow METizens.

This March, while I was in England, we had a little meet-up with wonderful Ainulindale, just two hours. (Discovery of the day - vegetable waffles. Yum!)
And the other person I met is *of course* not worth the mention. (Discovery of the week - They don't sell chocolate bars on the streets of Budapest but they sell lighters.) The festival should get a mention, though, it was absolutely awesome!

I can see this very swiftly turning into a 'picture of yourself' thread. Let me say now that my powers of resistance are destroyed completely.

Anyhow...

Me taking "Wolfchild" a bit literally. Just for the record, I'm not actually blue. I just like messing around with teh photos. I'll get the smart English citizen one you were all expecting posted as soon as I can Cheesy

Fine, I'll do it. Here's a >link< to a crappy old thing I made for an ID but never used (thank goodness). You can't really see my face but that's about as close as it gets from my not looking half-dead. I don't have any pictures of myself because I a) take the pictures and b) avoid the lens end of cameras like nothing else.

EDIT: Never mind, got rid of the link.

I'm a narcissist and I'm alright! Sleep all day and I drink all night.

ITT: Pictures!

Me and Kat at the Sziget festival in Budapest this summer. There was chocolate wrestling, there was beer, there was chatting to random Egyptian people to prove a point, there was beer, there were a lot of concerts, the best of which I missed because I had to night at Gatwick because of an obstinate airport lady and there was walking in the rain. For hours. At night.

Of course, Kat wasn't happy with my flag - not good enough for her - so the Russian flag came later Wink
