hello, you probably dont know who i am. at one point i was on here quite a bit. but that was years ago. this all seems very "1984" to me. i've been gone so long, and on a whim came back to check things out. i had no idea any crashes had taken place, nor that most people had left, seemingly for good. i feel as though a large part of my middle school aged life has been deleted, and there is little or no hope of it being returned.

I'm new here. Aside from the fact that I am a Tolkien fan, have read the books and seen the movies, I am currently involved in a community dedicated to writing and have joined a novel which is Middle Earth specific. I was surprised that they did not at present have the character Legolas in the novel so I applied for that position. Having gotten it, I now need to do major research about the character's past specifically, the environs in which he grew up and the relationship he had with his father, the King of Mirkwood.
With everything I have reading wise packed in boxes, I thought the best thing to do would be to find a forum which was Tolkienwise.

Having said that, where, here do I begin to find the information I require? I noted that the majority of forum topics did not have posts as recent as this one, so I begin my journey and search here.

If anyone has advice on where within this forum I might look, people to whom I might talk, all help is much appreciated.

You should read in to the fact that we recently had a huge revamp of this site after a large server error, which has left this forum in a state of having to build everything up once again, though some of the old stuff will never be replaceable. I mean, go ahead and look in the relevant threads and all, but understand there won't be much in depth info at this stage, I don't think.

Anyway, welcome to the site- it is good to have another dedicated Tolkienite to this place!

My daughter made me a cool picture with my "Scroll" name and replaced my "Frodo  Kiss" picture. But this doesn't mean I don't love Frodo/Lij  Kiss. I still do love him.

So i thank my daughter for surprising me with this. I love her.

Sorry for the double posting. Didn't realize I was doing it. I won't let it happen again (or at least i will try hard not to).

I know we lost alot of members in all of the changes lately. But the members that are coming on here seems to only go to the GD and PG. We all should go into the other sections to this forum and maybe we can get other topics started for more responses.

Why, I do believe tears of joy are springing to my eyes! (Okay...maybe not...) But I love this old layout sooo much!! I haven't been here in about a year or so(but it seems like an age...), but last time I dropped by there was this really scary layout. But I'm glad this one's back.  Cheesy

P.S. What happened to all my old stuff? Like my old avatar and post number and what not? It seems to have happened to everyone. Hmmm. Oh well.
