I just checked out the trailer.  Seems interesting.  Probably geared more towards family audences.  Doesn't seem to bear the epic battle scenes of a LOTR's film.  Maybe I'll check it out sometime; whether that be in theatres or on dvd.

It does look a little more family oriented, but fun.
I have kids - actually I went to movies like this when I didn't have kids too. Smiley

It looks very interesting. I have been told about how good the books are by various people, but I haven't read it yet.

Lairënuriel: hello, and welcome.  Just wondering, how did you become an "Istari" and get all thos stars under your name when you are new to MET?  Or were you under another name?

Actually, I didn't know what to think of the trailer...

At the beginning it almost seems like they are using LOTR as a selling point, trying to get poeple who liked LOTR to become interested. I think a movie should be a movie, if people like it, they like it. If they don't they don't. Don't try to use another movie's popularity to bring you glory.

In other news: I hope this isn't as huge of a flop a as Eragon was.

Eragon was a flop because they completely altered it.
They changed things that had me scratching my head!
I loved the book and was very disappointed in the movie.

Well, I loved the whole series of these books, so I'm definitely there!  Cheesy   Hope they don't suck.  Tongue

Like Eragon - I was so disappointed in the film adaptation!
I thought the book was amazing.

I've never read Eragon or seen the movie.  I will probably read the book(s) sometime, and then go from there as to whether or not I will see the film.

I loved the books especially the second one - it is mostly elves.  Smiley

They changed so much of the vital plot in the movie though that it didn't make much sense.  It is a shame, because now I doubt that Eldest will be made into a movie.

I still eagerly await the third book.

That's good to know.  I didn't know there was more than one book.  Would Eragon be more geared to an adult audience or more for children?  The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is one story which is very good for children, but has adult appeal as well.  There are also themes within it that kids might not catch on to as well.  I am wondering if Eragon would be similar to LWW in this way.   Wink

I find that it has universal appeal.
It is just really good sword and sorcery.  I have a hard time judging whether or not other adults will like things sometimes because I'm still just a big kid.  We live in a really conservative neighbourhood and sometimes I find talking to the other parents in the playground excruciating!!!

I think part of it is that some people simply lack imagination or creativity.  Such books/films evoke imagination and naturally appeal to those who have imagination.  I will have to check out the book for sure.  Thanks!   Wink
