This refers to the hobby side of things.  Some collect paintings, some stamps, some sports cards, and comic books, etc.  The number one thing I like to collect are books.  The second thing would be hockey cards.

I collect faeries and elves.  Anything that pertains to either.  Books, dolls, paintings, action figures, music, dvds, statues, paintings, anything with an image or shape of a faery or an elf - it's mine!!!

That's cool, Lairėnuriel.  It's nice to have a hobby.  I imagine you've gathered quite the collection over the years.  Wink

I could call the book collection in our house a collection indeed, but the sheer amount of them all would probably equate to that of a small library. We also, for reasons unknown, collect the tops from ale bottles. On a more personal level, I gather ornaments and pieces of art or sculpture (provided they are within the price range of a near nineteen year old) which I 'exhibit' upon the desks and bookcase of my bedroom.

When I was younger, I collected Star Wars and Lord of the Rings action figures,  figurines, posters, books and basically everything pertained to either of those films. I still have my LOTR collection displayed on a special shelf in my bedroom. 13 regular sized figures in all, and aa few smaller ones. My Star Wars action figures on the other hand take up two food containers. I haven't counted them recently but I have ALOT. I have a bunch from every film, and even one from 1977. Alot of them are collectibles, alot I just recently purchased. I have 7 or 8 clone troopers, and plenty of Jedi, all the main characters, Han (2), Luke (3), Chewie, Leia (2), Obi-Won (4), Anakin, Darth Vader, R2-D2 (2), C3-P0, etc.

Now, I really don't collect anything. I don't have the kind of money to collect anything I want to. I do however collect Amusement Park information pamphlets. I have maybe 20 or so from all over America.

Does anyone on here collect stamps?  I was always a bit curious about collecting them, but never knew where to start.  I'd probably collect stamps that have some bearing on history or something to that effect.

I don't, but my late grandfather did on a big scale. He always said to me that the little ridged edge of the thing had to be immaculate or the price it was worth would be greatly depleted. As far as his collection went, my gran is still in possession of nearly all his many, many books full of them.

I mostly holiday in the UK by the sea, and collect those little worn down, frosted bits of beer-bottle glass that turn up on the shoreline in amongst the pebblebanks - and I also collect common gems that turn up on the beach. Where I live in East Anglia, you can get nice little agates, carnelians, quartz and sometimes jet.
Then I take them home, put them in a jar of water to show off their colours and put them somewhere to remind me of my holidays - I really love the sea.

Wow, Shiona, that's really really awesome...Dude, can I come visit you??? That sounds amazing...I can just picture the sea, hear it...*grins*  Love it, love it.

Anyways, as for my collections, I don't collect much anymore (what college student has time for a collection...I know, I know...the truly dedicated/passionate.  Somehow that's not me  Innocent) Once upon a time, when I was little I collected Breyer horse figures.  I had about 25-30 at the most, some utterly banged up from my "horse races" and others clean and scrape free.  However, I eventually got rid of most of them and now...

I collect poetry and awesome, intriuging words...in my mind, that is.  Wink

But I know I must go on
Although I hurt, I must be strong
Because inside I know that many feel this way
Children, don't stop dancing--believe blind.
Children, don't stop dancing--believe you can fly away...away.
So let's go there--let's make our escape
Let's ask can we stay?
