No matter what president the US has in power, the US will always try to assert themselves and their power throughout the world.  Not only militarily, but also economically, as the US is the world's largest economy.  One just has to look at consumerism to see the vast influence of the US.  The US needs to be more humble and less prideful and cocky.  Try and travel around Europe, and you will see a vastly anti-American stance.  And please guy's don't wear any of our flags, we don't want our good name being tarnished either.  Tongue

Somehow numenorian is right.

I totally disagree, the United States Government is not responsible for this.

It's not the United States people, governors, judges, legislature, or senators, who are responsible for the economic and military pressure around the world. It's George Bush and his cronies! They won the election with cash, and faulty voting booths, and they are tarnishing our good name by only caring about their name.

M8y it's not bush who rules the Americans(and eventually the world). What rules in our world is money so those that really re our goverments are the rich people and generally big organizations.Unfortunately for a common guy like you and me these organizations can apush to really strong political pressures. In addition if you see things more mature you ll see that these things didn't happen only with Bush but with other presidents as well because it's NOT them who rule us.

Money talks.  And when you are the most powerful nation in the world, being able to manipulate economically is advantageous.  Fan: how about Nixon?  The Water Gate Scandal?  Definitely a corrupt administration . . .

Beren- Yes, and the average american and politician had nothing to do with Watergate and Nixon, it was all Nixon and his supporters. The average American person, senator, mayor, governor, and judge have nothing to do with these scandels, and are good respectable people. It only a couple of people ruining other people's views on The United States.
numenorian- Yes the people with the money control the world's government, but i believe that most of these people with money have good intentions, just like the average person.

Fan: no knock against the average American.  I was just making an example of American political corruption in the past.  I might be Canadian, but my Dad is American and I have some American relatives.  Nonetheless, I am proud to be Canadian.

numenorian: you must be thinking of the Enron scandal.  No doubt one of the biggest economic scandals in recent years.

Bush is too stubborn.  Now would be the opportune time for America to pull out and let Iraq figure things out for themselves.  Sending 20,000 more troops?  So many American lives have been sacrificed for this - and not completely in vain.  But one has to know when enough is enough.  I guess he still feels he can finish the job.  But if he fails - he should be impeached.  I am seeing some striking similarities to the Vietnam War.

Yes, but remember, Lyndon b. Johnson was not impeached for going into vientamand in many ways that war was much worse than this one. But what else is Bush supposed to do? Let Iraq fall into a terrorist trap, and admit he was wrong? No he needs to be right.

The bottom line is Bush must succeed - he must prove all the doubters wrong.  If not, he will never dig himself out of the hole he is in.

Nah, the only way to make himself look not totally reprehensible is to prove his doubters right. Apologize and start listening. Then he won't at least be seen as stubborn. I think it's too late to fix his image as incompetent, unrealistic and, oh yes, a frikkin' idiot.
