Now that Halloween is over I want to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL.

What are your plans for Thanksgiving this year.
My family and I will probably stay at home and eat tacos again.

I know what you are saying,"tacos? That isn't the proper thanksgiving dinner".
Well turkey and ham is good and all but Thanksgiving isn't about the food and what you eat. It's about being with the ones you love.

I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but my birthday is on the day of Thanksgiving (though Thaksgiving is not commonly a British celebration), and as I am 18 this year I think the festivities will involve a lot of partying, music, eating and partial drinking. My mum usually does cook turkey as the main part of the meal for this in reference to Thanksgiving, but I really don't like it, so this year we're having meat that actually tastes of something and isn't so damn dry you need to have one gravyboat per person. As it is on a Sunday this year, that means my relations will be able to come round on the day too, so it will be about spending time with those I love, and cherish.

I only worry about the day before on the Saturday, where I'm thinking about inviting my friends over- nearly all of whom will want to get drunk, which I really don't want to happen.

Congratulations Wolf on your B-day. My youngest daughter's B-day is on November 20th and she will be 8 this year.

Also if you don't want your friends to get drunk then make it so they don't. It's your party and house. You are the host. So you have the say of what goes on and what doesn't. So good luck on that.

Well, yeah- thanks Scroll. I know I do want to have some alcohol, but I will just have to prevent people from getting, as a Mancunian such as myself would put it, 'bladdered'.

Traslation:

Bladdered= Drunk to the point of singing.

There is nothing great about getting that drunk. In fact there is nothing great about drinking, doing any kind of drugs, or smoking. All that stuff will kill you one way or another, sometime or another.

Now I did have a few wine coolers when I was in high school but only one when I would drink. I didn't do it to get drunk either. In fact I have never been drunk in my life and don't want to or to be high on drugs. I haven't had a cooler in about 17 years. I just remembered I did have a few slow gin fizzes in my early 20's, but again only one when I drank it and not to get drunk.

Precisely- I do enjoy a drink myself, but I have never been, and never intend to be, drunk. At all. Whatsoever. I have developed this statement because of common sense (something numenorian seems to lack here) and from witnessing people I know when they are drunk, and I am the sober one having to deal with it. Plus, there was once a group of drunken people who attacked my dad when they (not my dad) were moving from one pub to another, and were hanging around our house. Drunkeness is, on no account, great.

Thanks everyone who has and is wishing me a happy birthday, though I think we are drifting off the Thanksgiving topic somewhat- I raise my cup of tea to you all!

Firstly guys i didn't mention drugs because im tottaly opposed but drinking once a while(and i mean gettind drunk 1 time the 4 months) is not a crime. For example i got drunk to my cousin's marriage but of cours im opposed drinking every now and then without reason and i'm undoubtly tottaly opposed to drugs.

Maybe getting drunk once in a while is to your liking, but we were referring to your previous statement saying it is great to do until you can't move, which we here don't agree with- for obveous reasons.

I'm going to have to agree with numenorian and heru on this one, I find getting drunk every once in a while damn fun. Not to say that there is anything wrong with abstaining from alcohol, I commend all who do, that can be difficult with all of the peer and commercial pressures that surround kids in this day and age.

There is nothing great about getting that drunk.

But this I just completely disagree with. I think it *completely* depends on the person, because many of my favourite memories involved getting drunk with my all of my best friends and having the time of my life. During those times there were tons of great things about getting "that drunk." For one it was just stupidly fun.

As for the topic, Canadian thanksgiving is in october so my turkey day is long since gone, but mine was a really fun get together with a bunch of extended family. Happy Thanksgiving to all of the American members here though.

And Happy Birthday to Wolfchild. May your party be a blast and everyone sustain your wish to withhold from getting "bladdered."  Wink

Hey Happy Birthday Wolf! Wink Once again I will be going to my aunts for Thanksgiving...although I get no break from school this year. Roll Eyes College class...gotta love it. I've never really seen the point of drinking\getting drunk in any form what-so-ever. But then again I have to see a point to everything I do in my life so maybe I'm just odd like that.  Wink
