I heard the other day that a woman had a bit of road rage in Virginia,USA. SHe threw a cup of ice at another car.

The problem is that the lawyers says she may get 2 years in prison. I think that is stupid. I know road rage is wrong and very dangerous. However 2 years in prison is down right stupid. When there are so many child molesters and others not going to prison and only getting off on just probation.

Now how wrong is that and what do you think?

Well, there might be other circumstances we are unaware of. Did anyone get hurt, or did she commit another crime? If not, i agree that 2 years is a bit too much.

I think 2 years is a bit much, but the court should consider that someone could have been really hurt if, for example, the ice had shattered the glass. But if it is small blocks of ice, as I presume for a drink or something, this would be very unlikely.

Jail time, no. But she should be required to take anger management stuff.

The sentence is definitely a bit harsh.  As it was said, the justice system needs to focus its attention on more serious problems/crimes.  She should probably at least get fined or even probation.  However, road rage is a big problem in cities, and maybe this case wil serve as an example of why people should not get so bent out of shape while on the road.  Other drivers sometimes frustrate me, but people flip you the finger or yell at you for the least little thing, and in many cases, for nothing - they are not worth the time of day.

Yes she should be punished but 2 year prison for such a small case is too much.

This is rather rediculous. Of course this person should not have done what she did and should as a result have to face concequences, but the severity of the sentence was not in keeping with that of the crime. Why is so much energy be wasted on severely punishing people for minor infringements where there are already too many real criminals to deal with?

I might stand alone with this point of view, but I think the punishment is correct. It's nothing less than an attempt at murder/manslaughter (whatever the terms are).

I experienced this myself. The picture above shows the result of a piece of ice (thrown from a car) against a windshield. This happened during a study tour in New Zealand, so please keep in mind that the driver is on the right side of the bus (not on the left side like in the majority of countries). The windshield was made of special glass (bulletproof), but could not prevent pieces of glass flying in the bus. The driver was barely able to see anything through the windshield and if it would've immediately collapsed, the bus would have fallen from a precipice (very small roads), probably resulting in the death of one bus driver, one professor and 26 students. Luckily this didn't happen, but I think 2 years in prison is not a severe punishment for such a crime.
