!!!!!!!!!

I understand if you think that people have more humanity than other species. But what do you mean there is no proof that humans are animals!? This is common scientific fact. Why would we be classified as mammals or primates if we weren't animals in the first place? Every living thing belongs in one of five or six kingdoms and we are definately animal. Every other living thing also has evolved, how otherwise would they exist?

Returning to the subject of abortion: I realize that the need of actual abortion is not high, but when it is needed, then it should be allowed! We don't have this kind of mentality for other health problems... "Oh, most of the population doesn't get AIDS on a regular basis, so we don't need to find a cure. We can just let those people suffer because there aren't many of them anyways."

I agree with Gil Galad - "animals do not have souls."  However, this might not be the forum for such a debate.  This kind of debate has more to do with whether one is religious or not - as Gil Galad and I are Christians.  The whole soul debate also depends on whether or not one believes in the after-life.  From the Christian perspective, it is only humans to which God breathed life into.  Of course he created all living things, but this unique act, separates humans from other species - in intelligence and in possessing actual souls.  I would be reluctant to call humans animals per se - species yes, but animals?  This might be more about semantics, but I feel more comfortable with calling humans one species among many, rather than another type of animal.  Animals are about basic instincts - survival and so on.  Yes humans strive to survive and adapt as well.  But humans, unlike animals, demonstrate the ability to reason, to be creative, to be innovative.  Animals simply eat, sleep and surivive - they are lower species than we are.
