Hmmm...well, I'll try not to come in here and raise any tempers, but I'm going to have to side-somewhat-with Beren, although I don't think you take it far enough.

First of all, in my opinion, all of this stuff about homosexuality being "natural," "genetics," or something that you're stuck with mentally seems like one big excuse to me.  Homosexuality it a perversion-something that deviates from the natural order of things (As intended by God).  It IS a choice, but not neccisarily an informed decision, because, again, I believe, a lot of times it's the devil/Satan in combination with human sinful nature, to do these things/live this way.

Second, I don't mean to sound mean, or judgemental, or condemning.  I don't want to back down and be a sissy either.  That's the way it is, but that doesn't mean this people are evil "sickos" that we should look down on.  All of us mess up.  All of us make mistakes.  As far as I'm concerned, we're all on the same level here.

And third, Easybreath, I'll admit I did not read that article you posted about.  I'd just like to say that, after taking a Communications/Speech course, I have realized just how EASY it is to manipulate data, information, quotes and every other sort of supporting evidence in writing as well as in speeches.  Any one can reasonably "prove" anything really, as long as they manipulate things correctly....

That is all.

So let's go there--let's make our escape
Let's ask can we stay?

I want to first of all thank you for an open and respectful post.

Secondly, you posit that your background for your belief is stated in the Bible. Considering the unambiguousness of Leviticus 18:22, that part is really not debatable. Unless you are willing, for the sake of the discussion, to posit that either the Christian God does not exist or that the Bible is mistaken, there is hardly any point for this.

If you are, however, please do tell! Then the real discussion begins Wink

I didn't realise this one was going again!

An interesting thing happened to me over the holidays.  I have always considered myself very accepting of everyone.  My sister in law brought her girlfriend to dinner and introduced her as her partner.  My husband and I were suddenly faced with how much we wanted our children (4 and 7 year old girls) to know and not know about their aunt's preferences.  To this point we have not explained anything to them.  After we got home he and I had a huge talk about how uncomfortable the whole situation made us.  We decided to deal with the questions when they came, but they didn't.  I still don't know what I will say.

Well, best of luck with that. Though a good course is certainly to make sure you don't alienate your children from their aunt; if they get to know and love her, they can make up their own minds in due time. You have some years yet until sexual preferences become an issue Wink

Waiiiit....I'm kind of confused here.  You're saying what I believe and asking me to debat the OTHER side??   Wacko  lol.

Lairėnuriel:  Oh my goodness...that does sound REALLY hard to explain.  It sounds like the time my little sisters were asking about babies and all that.  We told them something to the extent that married people had babies, and she then wanted to know how my older sister had a baby and wasn't married.... Shocked  Haha...that was rather interesting to explain...Mostly we just gave them some vagggggguuuueeee details and let the rest remain until they are old enough to understand.  Personally, I wish I HADN'T understood until I was a little older than I was...*shrugs*  Ah well.

Yup - you never think about how tough it is to explain things!  Kids ask questions about EVERYTHING.  We are just letting it go for awhile.

If they do get married though we'll have a lot to explain.  They both want to have kids.
