That's not humanly possible. Is it?

   Hey guys,
I just figured we should make a thread for the kickstart of Tolkien's famous trilogy, The Lord of the Rings.  So what's everyone's favorite part of The Hobbit?  Mine was a tie between when Bilbo met Smaug, and the Battle of the Five Armies.

The battle definetely and when they met the trolls for me i guess but basically all their journey for me was great and i have to admit that generally hobbit's adventuring was better than lotr's but i guess lotr was more epic.

Aye, the Troll part was awesome.  I love it when the good guys get the loot.  lol.  The Hobbit was more understandable, and a bit less descriptive, but I think LOTR had a much better plot.

I love the Hobbit, my favorite part was probably, well i dont have one though i really liked the cave troll part and the unexpected party, but i definetly love the hobbit for its simplicity, but the lotr still is awesome

I read the Hobbit a while ago and I sort of went through it a little fast, wanting to get to the LOTR series.  I'm listening to it on tape again now.  I just got to the trolls part.  I have to say, I'm enjoying the story much more so, the second time around.

I loved the trolls!  I also loved how Bilbo got the dwarves out of the elves' palace in the barrels, but then he realized that there was no one to put him in one!

I've read the Hobbit multiple times, but haven't done so for some time now, so I know the storyline well but don't remember many details. One of my favorite parts was also the escape from the elves' palace, but I just enjoyed the entire book in general.

This type of thing is always hard to rank, but here goes: 1) The Battle of Five Armies; 2) Bilbo's interaction with Smaug; 3) The whole episode when Gandalf slays the Great Goblin in the Misty Mountains; 4) When Bard slays Smaug; 5) The involvment of Beorn in the tale . . .

1. Unexpected party
2. The trolls who became stone
3. The battle of the Five Armies
4. and the Spider fight (where sting earns his name)
