Well then....that's sad. I would have been interested in seeing a Hobbit movie made. However, I bet one day they will end up doing it anyway with or without Peter Jackson. (I think without would be a mistake Tongue)

Fans were "very upset", Pirrotta told Reuters. "We are seeing calls for everything from letter-writing campaigns to a boycott of the studio."

"Don't tick off the nerds" I guess is the best message here. Hopefully this either gets resolved, or this next director doesn't ruin them.  Tongue

If they do end up getting a new director I have no doubt that the film will be completely picked apart for every mistake, even more so than with Peter Jackson. I hope it all end up gets resolved though. I wonder how good it would be with a different director.

My husband read about this in our local newspaper the other day. I think it did say that the Hobbit will be made just a new director. So sad  Sad.

I have heard that this version would be directed towards a younger audience.

I like Peter Jackson's interpretation.  He kept true to the story as best as he could.  I think he would have done an awesome job on the Hobbit.  It's a shame that they aren't utilizing his talents on this film.  I hope whatever director they chose will do it justice.   I doubt they will find someone as good as Andy Serkis to do the job of Gollum.  PJ would have used Ian Holme to do Bilbo and I doubt that Ian will do the film if PJ is in a war with New Line.

I think what really happened was they asked Peter Jackson and he turned them down. Why would they go after anyone else to direct their movie when they can clearly see, in fact they can see better than us because they can call up financial stats that we don't have available to us, what a success the trilogy was...and I think he said no...
Honestly, why would the greatest fantasy director of our time, who won praise for his trilogy and for King Kong, not be included in the prequel to LOTR?
They aren't stupid, though I would have to say that pirates of the carribean II could have "used a lot more Gore and a lot less Verbinski, which I think is Russian for 'bad dialogue' (askaninja.com).

Yea, I really wanted to see the battle of five armies full scale, and lord of the rings style of fighting, it will be a bit disapointing
