Warner Bros has given their approval for production to begin in February.  Should be exciting!  Can't wait to hear more about casting.

Very interesting update, thanks Andunie!  Sounds good.  I thought Ron Pearlman might get the nod for the role of Thorin.  But Jackson's choices were all great the first time around (though he kind of fluked out with Viggo - being that Mortensen was I believe his third or fourth, and last option for the role, who turned out to be the best ever . . . ).  I am excited to see who gets cast as Bard of Laketown.  Gerard Butler would be good in this role, imo.
