So, after all this time in development hell, The Shire is finally coming back to life:

I'm excited, to say the least. O_O

Very cool Jimmy, thanks for the update!   Smiley

I wish they'd get a move on with the casting.  So far only rumours are out there:

The only guy's that are confirmed are: Weaving as Elrond, McKellan as Gandalf, and Serkis as Gollum.  theonering.net has some intriguing possibilities though.

I've heard Bloom's making a cameo, but I can't remember where I heard it. Maybe I'm just making things up. Tongue

Your right Jimmy.  Bloom (I didn't bother to mention) might make a brief cameo, possibly teaching Bard of Laketown some bow skills.  Also, you have to remember, Legolas is the son of Thranduil, who will play a big part in the films.

True. I do wonder if it will be a speaking one, though. I'm curious as to who they'll get to play the many dwarves.

Me too.  One of the frontrunners for the role of Thorin is Ron Perlman.  I think he would fit well into that role.  Also makes sense when you consider he worked with Del Toro in the Hellboy films.

Perlman would be good, but it's going to take a lot of CGI to get him down to dwarf size. He's a big guy.

Yeah that's a fact.  But it could be done.
