Does anyone on here collect the Lord of the Rings collectors cards?  I have always been a collector of hockey cards, but have been interested in maybe branching out to start collecting LOTRs cards.  There are numerous sets out there.  You can find them at your local shop, but a lot are listed on eBay.  Anyone who has expertise in this area, let me know.  Thanks!

Are you referring to the LotR Card Game, or the collectable cards with shots from the film on the front and a description on the back?

I do have two starter decks for the card game. The first is the Mines of Moria starter and the second is the Fellowship starter. As for collectable cards I have maybe half a dozen Random Card packs.

The collectible cards.  Like the ones made by Topps.

You guy's should scan pics of your cards in here (Insane and Lauren, I'd be interested to see some of them).  Lauren, what game decks do you have?  It could make this an even cooler thread.  I think sometime soon I will cave and buy some.  Not sure where to start though.  I like the Topps Masterpieces.  There are also some cool authographed cards as well.  I am a fairly big hockey card collector, so for me this would be a branching out.

I will scan some after the week end - we have a lot of crazy plans and if I take out the cards the kids will get into my stuff that I keep put away.

Sure that would be cool.  Just scan your favorites in.  You don't have to scan too many.  Q

Question to Lauren and Arwen: are the game decks like regular card decks or are they those tarot card decks?  Just wondering.   Wink

My scanner doesn't work all that great, so I'll just list some of them off. Mostly from The Fellowship of the Ring. I've got a couple other packs I can do too. If you like the sound of one of them I'll see if I can get a picture up.

1. "Help from a flying friend." Gandalf wispering to the moth.
2. "The Cave Troll battles on." The troll reals as he is stabbed by the pike.
3. "What lies beyond." Sam and Frodo in the last scene of FotR look towards Mordor. (a cool conceptual rendering of Sam on the back)
4. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring movie poster card.
5. "Encounter with ghostly terror." The Witch King reaches for the ring on Frodo's finger.
6. "Frodo's Mission." Gandalf confronts Frodo just before he takes off for Rivendell
7. "Isildur's Prize." Isildur grabs the smoldering finger of Sauron and looks at the Ring.
8. The Nine on their way." The Fellowship pass some ruins
9. "The orc swarm." (Even though I'm pretty sure their goblins) "Orcs" surround the fellowship in the mines of Moria.
10. "Against Sauron's Minions" Sam and Frodo are seen watching the Easterlings pass (tTT)
11. "Seized by the Watcher." The Watcher leaps out of the depths near Moria
12. "The Fortress City." A view of Isengard
13. "The Splendor of Lothlorien." Lothlorien

This is hard to explain, so my explanation will probably suck...lol. But here goes. The game decks basically let you play out the battles and stuff in card form. think yu-gi-oh card game or the DBZ card game only better (better cause its LOTR Tongue). If that explanation sucked, i'm sure Lauren can explain it better Beren.  embarassed

So the card game is more of an RPG sort of game then?
