I'm not actually a newbie, I just came back...

I found out, pretty much, that there is going to be Limited Editions of the LOTR Trilogy.  Even though I already have the extended editions, I am planning on getting these (due to the documentary made by someone who Jackson hired).  Also, PJ is planning on releasing a King Kong Extended Edition (which comes out in November).

The LOTR Limited Edition Trilogy comes out on August 29th.
Who's planning on getting these?
I know I am...

if i had money, i would.. i doubt that limited means "you can only buy it now"... i'm trusting i'll have a chance to buy these, or something better, in the future, when i don't have to pay for college.

Owing to the fact that I already posess the LOTR videos, DVDs, and Extended Edition DVDs, I don't know if it will be worth getting these 'Limited Edition' ones- just for the fact that it will only give me a little bit more information about the films, most of which I have already.

I bought the original release of the DVD to early, I can't bother getting the extended edition when there is only a few scenes added in.

yeah you can. return of the king has an additional 45 minutes... which is, on average, half of a normal movie... plus there are hours upon hours of special features that the theatrical release does not have.

i ended up buying return of the king on limited edition. i decided to pace myself, and buy all of them, just so i could have the theatrical versions, and that cool documentory which wasn't entirely full of new stuff.. but still cool.

The limited Editions aren't worth it!! I was disappointed, the supposivley new documentaries of behind the scenes, almost 3/4 of the material was used before in the appendices of the EE's. I still wanna get the original EE's so I can have all the special features.

I have the extended versions of all three movies.  I can't watch them when they come on cable anymore, because I get annoyed at the missing scenes.

You should at least get the extended version of ROTK.  It delves into Aragorn's plight, it has the romance of Faramir and Eowyn, plus more.  Explains more.  Definitely worth it.

I already have the EE of all three and when I watch the movies on tv I don't get anoyed with missing out on the extended scenes. But I'm not going to get the new ones (even though I would like to have them) my hubby will just say, "why spend money on them when you already have the ee ones. You don't need them". So therefor I am not going to get them.

As for King Kong? I liked the movie and all. But at the beginning it was so slow and long. Heck the whole movie was so long and the extentions would be interesting but it would make it that much longer. I don't think I would like that.

He's right, it's not worth it, the limited edition (new ones) aren't much better than the EE's for special features.

After watching the EE of the trilogy I rarely watch the other versions of the movies, but I would still like to get the first version of FOTR and the TTT. I loved the behind scenes feature on one of them that I think was entitled "A Day in the Life of a Hobbit" or something like that? (I'm unsure of the title becuse it has been almost a year and half since I have been able to get ahold of a copy) and it showed Dominic and Billy hanging out together.
