I heard that Russell Crowe was offered the role of Morpheus in the Matrix.  I heard something about Crowe and the role of Aragorn too, maybe this was heresay.

Crowe could probably have pulled both roles off, although I can't picture it.
I would have loved to see Steve Buscemi in there somewhere - not as Aragorn though.   laugh

I feel like on the Special Edition of FoTR, they spoke in passing of Crowe being pursued as the role of Aragorn. If I remember correctly he couldn't/ or wouldn't accept the role.

Actually I have always liked Cage as an actor.  He's been in many great films.  It's hard to imagine him as Aragon.  And originally I wouldn't have been in favour of this.  But it's hard to say.  He might have done a great job.  We are just used to seeing Viggo in that role, and the great job he did.  I think that the guy for the job was none other than Viggo, who did a superb job!
